BHARAT RATNA LATA MANGESHKAR

The 10 day long SANGEETOTSAVAM being organised by Peringottukara Devasthanam in the fond memory of Sangeethakulapathi Dakshinamoorthy Swamy is now entering the 5th year of musical celebrations from, January 13th 2017 to January 22nd 2017. The prestigious DAKSHINAMOORTHY NADAPURASKARAM instituted by Peringottukara Devasthanam Dakshinamoorthy Music Trust this year will be presented to the legendary musician Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar who has been adorning the music horizon like a radiant sun for well over seven decades. This well-deserved recognition reflects his laudable contributions in the field of Hindusthani and Film music rendering . The name of Lata Mangeshkar was a unanimous choice by the panel of musicians who constituted the award committee. They are none other than the renowned music composers, Sarvashri . M.K.Arjunan Master, Smt.Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Sri.Cheppad A.E. Vamanan Namboothiri and the members of the Dakshinamoorthy trust namely Dr K.G Ravindranath and Shri K.G Haridas. The award comprises of a cash prize of Rupees One Lakh, a sculpture and a PONNADA which will be presented by the Devasthanadhipathi, Brahmasri. Unni Damodara Swami at 6.30 pm on the 13th January during the inaugural function being organised at the Peringottukara Devastahnam Dakshinamoorthy Mandapam. The chief guest of the evening will be the famed singer Smt.Vani Jayaram and the keynote address to the fond memory of Sangeethakulapathi Dakshinamoorthy will be delivered by the eminent lyricist cum director Shri.Sreekumaranthampi. On this auspicious occasion, the well-known musician SRI.K.G.JAYAN will be honoured with the title “AASTHANA VIDWAN” by the Peringottukara Devasthanam. The felicitation speeches will be delivered by Sri.M.K.Arjunan Master, Dr.K.G.Raveendranath, Sri. K.D.Devasdas and Sri.Bijukumar. The vote of thanks will be proposed by Sri K.D.Venugopal representing the devasthanam.

The inaugural function will be followed by a concert by the ‘’Aathana Vidwan’’title winner Sri.K G.Jayan. This will mark the beginning of the 10 day long musical treat starting every day at 8am in the morning until 10pm in the evening. The noted musicians who will perform are Sri .Umbayi, Ms. VaikomVijayalakshmi, Ms.Bhagyalakshmi G.R, Smt. Suchithra Balasubrahmanyam, Chennai, Sri.S.V.Krishna and Sri.Cheppad A.E.Vamanan Namboothiri.
On the 22nd of January, the 5th Sangeethotsavam will conclude with a rendition of Thyagaraja Pancharatna compositions by eminent musicians of South India.
